Emory Hensley is coming to Perc Up 2014 as a percussion clinician and performer. Emory is currently the music teacher at W.D. Williams Elementary, and Weaverville Primary Schools. He is a graduate of Mars Hill University with a degree in Music Education, where he studied under Dr. Brian Tinkel. Emory has instructed many middle and high school percussion programs throughout North Carolina and currently works with the Charles. D. Owen High School Marching Band and winter percussion ensembles. Emory was a staff member with DCA three-time Class A High Percussion winner and Class A World Champion Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps (2008-2012). Emory is excited to begin his fourth season with Wake Forest Independent. Emory has been an instructor for the MulTiPerc Summer Percussion Camp as well as the Mars Hill College Summer Music Camp.
As a performer Emory has been a member of the Mars Hill College marching band, percussion ensemble, marimba band, and wind ensemble. He has participated in Drum Corps International with the world class finalist Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and with Odyssey Percussion Theatre, a Percussion Independent World group in Winter Guard International. Emory is currently a member of the 10 Can Percussion Group.
Emory is an education artist with Innovative Percussion, a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and NAfME.
